If you see cold-stunned, stranded, stunned or dead sea turtles, call the EI Police non-emergency number 252-354-2021
For stranded mammals (whales, dolphins, seals, manatees, etc.) call the Mammal Stranding Hotline, call: 252-241-6015
For bird rescue by the Shore Bird Response Team (SRT), call: 252-723-7487(Note: SRT is not a part of EI Sea Turtle Patrol, but we work closely together.)
As temperatures drop, sea turtles are at risk of cold stunning. Please always call in sea turtles on the beach, even deceased turtles to ensue proper care.
Cold-stunning is a condition in which sea turtles become very weak and inactive from exposure to cold temperatures. Details
